Rights and Policies
Thank you for visiting Continue.miami.edu, your resource for Continuing & International Education at the University of Miami. Your privacy is very important to us. Simply stated, our policy is to collect no personally identifiable information about you when you visit our website unless you actively choose to make such information available to us. This Privacy Statement generally describes how we collect, use and/or share information gathered by our website.
University of Miami 2014-2015 Bulletin.
DCIE Refund & Exchange Policy
Refund and exchange eligibility at DCIE is determined by the date you make your refund request relative to the start date of the course or certificate program. Based on our policy below, you are entitled to a 100% refund 72 hours prior to course start date, 75% before the day the course starts, and no longer eligible for a refund on or after the first day of class.
|Cancellation requests received more than 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start date1
|Cancellation requests received within 3 days (72 hours) of class start date
|Cancellation requests received on or after class start date
1 Start date is defined as 12:00 am midnight on the day the course begins, not the time at which it starts during the day.
Certificate programs operate as a single course with regards to the refund policy, where your refund policy start date is the start date of the first course in the program. You cannot receive a refund for subsequent courses in a certificate program after starting the first course.
Partial Payments & Payment Plans
If you choose to cancel your enrollment within 3 days (72 hours) of the course start date, you will be entitled to a 75% refund, but if you have made only a partial payment or deposit on a payment plan, it is important to note that in many cases you will receive less than 75% of your deposit payment. This is because the 75% refund is based on the cost of tuition, and leaves you with a 25% liability for that full cost. If your deposit or partial payment amounts to only 25% of the total cost of tuition, you will receive no refund, though you will not be liable for the remaining 75% due on your payment plan.
Fees & Memberships
All fees and memberships are non-refundable unless related to cancelled courses (see below).
The University reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any program with insufficient enrollment or for reasons beyond our control. In any such cases, a full refund of fees and deposits will be made. Before a refund can be issued, verification of your payment, confirmation of the pertaining records and administrative review and approval must be completed. While we will expedite your refund request, please allow a minimum of 45 days for processing.
Information We Collect
When visiting our website, some information is collected electronically or by technology. For example, when accessing the Internet, each computer is assigned a unique identifier called an IP address that identifies where information is coming from or where information should be sent. Along with your IP address, we collect information regarding which pages you visit on our site, from which page you came to our site, and the software you use to visit our site and its configuration. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our website. When you use any shopping cart functions that may be included on our website, your IP address is used to help identify you and your shopping cart and to gather broad demographic information. None of that information is associated with you as an individual.

In addition to information collected by technology, some parts of our website may ask you to provide personal information. You will know when you are sharing personal information with us because you will need to send a message, fill out a form or application or answer questions, and then agree to provide this information to us. You may opt-out of receiving future mailings (see the Choice/Opt-out section below). Financial information that is collected is used to bill you for products and services you have requested. Unique identifiers (such as Social Security numbers) are collected from website visitors to verify your identity and for use as account numbers in our record system.
Some of the information we collect or that you provide may be saved for a designated or indefinite period of time, but we will not disclose the information to third parties or government agencies, unless required to do so by state or federal law, in support of University sponsored programs or activities, or to protect the integrity, safety, and security of our website (see below for information about how to update or remove your information).
