Joins Dr. Marsha Cohen for this fascinating lecture series! Samuel Clemens (1835-1910), best known by his pen name Mark Twain, is best known as the author of classic novels like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, and humorous short stories read by high school students. But Twain’s career was primarily one of a journalist, a commentator on paradoxes of everyday American life in the latter half of the 19th century. Through his writings, Twain introduces us to a 19th century America that challenges many of the popular images of, and myths about, the “good old days” a century ago.
