Nancy Cromar

Nancy Cromar

Inspiration for a life in design and architecture came from a high school art teacher who encouraged Nancy to research famous modern architects for a project. That was all it took to start Nancy on a path to the University of Florida where she received a Bachelors of Design in Architecture, with honors. After working for an architect for a year, Nancy planned and set off on a grand architectural tour of Europe. After seeing some of the world's greatest buildings from Corbusier's Villa Savoye and Chapelle de Ronchamps to the Gothic cathedrals in Paris and Cologne, she returned home to continue her post-graduate education. She attended the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University where she received a Masters in Architecture. She was one of four from her class to be invited to work for Helmut Jahn in Chicago where she apprenticed for three years and obtained her Architecture license.

Nancy then moved to New York City where she began her own practice with a partner. Their projects included custom residential homes in New York and Connecticut, as well as small-scale commercial interior design projects. Nancy relocated to Miami in 1992 where she established her current firm, NC Studio, focusing on multi-disciplinary projects of all types and scales. In 2010 she also became a full time faculty member at Miami International University of Art and Design, teaching Interior Design with a focus on Design, History, Lighting, and Professional Practice, in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.

In 2007, Nancy passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification test and is NCIDQ certified. She also passed the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design requirements, in 2009, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Nancy has her Architectural License in Florida, New York, and Illinois. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Interior Designers, and The Harvard Club of Miami.

Traveling remains a passion for Nancy and her husband. Most recently they have marveled at the architecture and culture of Venice, Vicenza, Verona, and Barcelona, and have future plans to visit Greece, Spain, and Norway.
