These programs are offered through the Office of Professional Advancement.

Certificates

Electronic Medical Records Certificate

Manage electronic medical records and gain the professional knowledge to become an essential member of the healthcare team. Learn through hands-on practice sessions using PrimeSUITE® electronic medical records software. The Program prepares students to sit for the Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) examination through the National Healthcareer Association.

Medical Billing and Coding Certificate

A certification in MBC will help to prepare the participant for a rewarding career in a wide array of medical settings such as medical record coders, insurance billers and health information technicians. The program begins with a standard block of courses necessary to obtain the foundation knowledge needed for certification in billing and coding. Students will participate in a module specific focused on ICD 9 and ICD-10 CPC certification examination preparation. Upon completion of the Program, students will be able to manage medical records, code diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement and research purposes, and be prepared to sit for the CPC certification examination.

Patient Advocacy Certificate Program

The eight-module, fully online course, prepares students to confidently take and pass the Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) certification examination, while ensuring that students are fully informed about the scope of practice of the patient advocate.

Sports Medicine Fundamentals

Participants pursuing a certification in Sports Medicine examine the relationships between exercise, human performance, and the role of physical activity in healthy lifestyle promotion.

Hospice and Palliative Care

Hospice is a health care specialty that involves the treatment of some of the most seriously ill patients.

Physical Therapy Aide

The purpose of physical therapy is to restore motor function to the human body by alleviating and correcting movement disorders.

Medical Office Administration

The University of Miami Medical Office Administration Certificate Program prepares participants to perform daily tasks that keep doctor’s offices and hospitals functioning efficiently.
