David Calvo

David Calvo is the Director of Distribution for the various specialty hospitals at the University of Miami. His goal is for the University of Miami to have a best-in-class distribution system and he is continually leading projects in pursuit of this goal. Some of those projects include transitioning to a Just-In-Time inventory model and developing an innovative mobile warehousing concept to relieve space constraints at the satellite hospitals. David is a former United States naval officer, management consultant, and full-time project manager with experience leading strategic, continuous improvement, change management, and IT projects in a variety of demanding environments. David holds an MBA and an MS in Supply Chain Management from the University of Maryland and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.



Patrick O’Brien, P.E., PMP, CCM, Ph.D.

Patrick O'Brien

Dr. Patrick O’Brien has an extensive project management and leadership background with over twenty-five years of consulting experience. He has worked on projects from a $460 million convention center to building and renovating Hilton Hotels on the east coast of Florida to a federal Department of Energy grant program researching renewal energy (wind).

Dr. O’Brien currently works as the Manager of Project Management at Duquesne Light Company, a regional power distribution company in Western Pennsylvania. He previously worked as a Director of Consulting at a subsidiary of a national law firm as part of the Construction practice group. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and is a licensed Professional Engineer in four states (PA, OH, DC and NY). Dr. Patrick O'Brien holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Management, a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History
